Scary, Sketchy Scissors

April 6, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Have you ever heard of someone trying to give themselves a haircut or a friend of theirs doing it out of their own home for them? Although this is typical and has become more popular as things have gotten more expensive, it is a bit dangerous. Truly, the only person who should be allowed to cut your hair is your personal hairstylist. You know, the one who actually went to school and studied to how to do this for a living? She’s the one person you should be able to trust that will always do the right job with your hair.

When you put the trust of your hair in someone’s hands that has not had proper training, you could be making a big mistake that will take a while to fix. This is because the tools they use are not always top of the line like hairdressers’ tools. The scissors that a hairdresser uses are specifically manufactured and sometimes only available to those who have a license to cut hair. If your friend is wanting to cut your hair and she doesn’t have a license, it will be very hard for her to find a good quality pair of scissors.

If she can’t find a good pair, she isn’t going to be able to perform well on hair. Also, hair scissors are extremely expensive and someone who doesn’t make enough money may not be able to afford one of the best kinds of shears . Unlike a hairdresser, your friend might not have any experience either. This is never good because you’ll want the best results on your hair and if it gets cut with the wrong kind of hair scissors, you may have damage to your hair.

Keeping a good cut can be difficult since hair grows over time and needs a regular trim. When you go for a new haircut, be sure you go to someone you trust whom you know will have quality shears, not scary ones. Also, keep your hairdressers consistent. Don’t go to a professional one day and then have a friend do it six weeks later. Always make them explain what they will be doing with your hair so that you can tell if they know what they’re doing.

How To Style Hair In Less Than Five Minutes

February 23, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Waking up in the morning a half-hour too late is one of the biggest pains. Not only is it difficult to get yourself ready for the day, the fact that you wake up late also pretty much guarantees you a bad day. The worst part about having a bad morning is that you can’t make yourself look great, right? Wrong! In just a few tricks I’ll have you ready for a day your good looks will never forget and your face will thank you for.

Forget freshly showered hair that looks stringy all day; you need hair that you won’t regret styling and will look great all day. So even if you’ve waken up way too late to blow dry and straighten your hair, you can pull it all together with one simple look. The easiest way to do this is to start with a few tools that are handy right in your own home. Grab a brush, a teasing comb, hairspray and a few bobby pins.

First you’ll need to smooth the hair down with your brush to get all tangles out. When you sleep on a pillow that is made out of material other than silk, your hair gets ratty and messy from turning your head around all night. This means your brush is your best friend and will save the day. Once you’ve run the brush through the hair, use your teasing come to give a little oomph to the crown of your hair. Do this by taking sections at a time and lifting them straight up to the ceiling, spray the base of the section with hairspray and run the comb up and down for about 5 seconds. Next, let the sections fall and comb over them to leave a smooth overlay that will still give off a poofy look.

Next take your bobby pins and comb to part your hair with. Part the hair to the side and bring a section of hair (whether it be bangs or a loose section near the face) over to the side. Twist the section of hair to give a fun and cute edge to the style and pin it back with your bobby pin(s). To finish off this extremely easy look, tip your head to the ground and give it a quick hairspray refresher and then flip the hair back up to normal. You may need to run your hands through your hair to get rid of snarly parts, but this last step is the finishing touch to give your hair a boost of volume to look as if you just got done blow drying and styling for two hours. A style (which doesn’t even call for a hair straightener, might I add!) in less than five minutes can give you a look that will last you through the day.

Everyone Has Time To Straighten

All too often I hear the excuse of, “But I don’t have enough time to style my hair every day.” Or, “Using hair tools takes too much time.” And to all those people who say that, I have one word to say to you…”Bologna.” It’s simply not true that styling your hair with hair tools takes too much time. And people who say that are generally people who have not ever bothered to use a hair straightener or curling iron.

I have a simple question for all of those who say that getting ready to face the day by using hair tools takes too much time, “Have you ever tried them?” For most people, the answer will be no. It’s the simple perception that hair tools take more time than simply air drying or blow drying your hair in the morning.

There are a few things that you can do to speed up your morning routine if you are truly short on time, or simply like to sleep in. I have a good friend who has very thick hair, so she washes it at night instead of the morning. This way, she simply has to get up in the morning, and run her hair straightener through it and she doesn’t need to take the extra time to dry her hair with a hair dryer every day.

This brings me to another point. Using a hair straightener is extremely easy, and you can accomplish a beautiful sleek style in only minutes. Professional hair straighteners heat up in seconds, not minutes so you don’t need to wait around waiting for your tool to come to the appropriate temperature. Be sure you choose a hair iron that uses ceramic plates because ceramic retains heat extremely well which means that you don’t have to worry about the straightener losing heat during your styling. You also don’t have to worry about hot spots throughout the plates that will burn your hair. If you really want to speed up your styling, look for a hair straightener with tourmaline. Tourmaline is a natural source of negative ions which infuse the hair locking in moisture, and creating shine. Also, tourmaline helps to dry the hair from the inside – out which means it styles much quicker.

If you blow dry your hair every morning before styling, choose an ionic hair dryer because the negative ions in these dryers works the same way – drying the hair from the inside – out, so your hair dries up to 65% faster which means you are out of the door and ready to go much faster.

When it comes to using your hair straightener, they are extremely simple to use. Simple section your hair, and pull the iron down each section. Depending on the length and thickness of your hair, you should be able to have it completely straightened in between five to ten minutes. And you get faster as you get practice.

So for everybody who says that they don’t have time every morning to use a hair straightener on their hair, I have only one thing to say. “You don’t have time not to use a straightener.” These are the ultimate time saving tools. Plus, you’ll leave the house looking fantastic!

We all know that we live in a right handed world and it can be difficult for someone who is left handed to not only get by but to find the tools they need to do their job. For this hairstylist this means finding high quality left handed scissors so they can have the best scissors available to do their job just as someone who is right handed does. Just for those who are left handed Kamisori, one of the leading Japanese scissors manufacturers has a complete line of scissors just for those who are left handed. This makes getting your job styling your client’s hair a breeze just as it does for those who are right handed.

Using Wet to Dry Hair Straighteners

May 23, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

For many girls the wet to dry hair straightening iron is a really confusing tool since we have always been told that applying heat directly to wet hair will damage it. What is a girl to do if she wants straight hair but is short on time? Blow-drying hair completely can really take awhile, especially if you have very thick hair, and then spending time using a hair straightening tool and you are spending a lot of time getting ready. But with a professional wet to dry hair iron you can actually skip the step of blow-drying and go directly into straightening with only a towel dry.

Wet to dry hair straighteners are designed with special air vents, which allow the moisture to escape as opposed to it being stuck inside the hair iron with your hair causing unneeded damage that could take time to repair. A wet dry hair iron is the best professional styling tool available for a woman who wants to look her best, but is limited on time to make that happen. Not only can these tools straighten your hair as they dry it, with a little practice can also be used to put beautiful wavy curls in your hair when you want to sport a different look for a special occasion.

Top 7 Reasons Every Woman Needs a Professional Hair Straightener

As women we all want a perfect hair day everyday and we want it to be quick and easy to achieve too. Well, we can have our cake and eat it too with the right tool. A hair straightener can be a girl’s best friend if she knows all of the benefits to owning and using one.

So why should you own a hair straightener? Let me count thy ways…

1. You can curl and flip, add waves, use it for sophisticated up-do or casual everyday styles.

2. Forget frizz! Weather your hair is curly or straight you can still suffer from frizzy hair. A hair straightener works to seal the hairs cuticle and rid of frizz leaving your hair smooth.

3. You can add shine and have healthier looking hair with a hair iron as well. In much the same way you rid of the frizz, sealing the cuticle will give the appearance of smoother softer strands and add shine.

4. Turn up the volume! Adding volume to any length of hair with a flat iron is simple.

5. Save Money! If you own a good hair straightener you will no longer need all of those styling creams, anti frizz serums, gels and so on. All you will really need is a styling cream, spray or lotion to protect hair from heat styling and a good hair spray which is handy to set your completed style.

6. Save more money! Since you can create curls, waves and add volume with a flat iron what other tools other than a hair dryer will you really need?

7. With some practice a hair straightener quickly becomes a fast and easy way to achieve different styles day in and day out. You can have great looking hair everyday without the hassle and the time some other styling methods can take.
