Why Do We Have To Use Different Scissors?

February 18, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

There are a whole variety of types of scissors we need to use if we’re hairdressers. For example, one of the best lines of shears in the country, the Kamisori shears, have been known for their many different types of scissors that they sell. Some of them have thicker blades and some of them have thinner, sharper blades. Many people wonder what the big difference is between these kinds of cutting tools and why we have to use so many different type? This depends on the kind of textures being cutting.

Kamisori sells only the best of the best, but that doesn’t mean they only sell one kind of hair scissor. They sell many different kinds to accommodate the type of hair that will be cut. For thick and coarse hair, there is a kind of shear called the Ryu. This pair has been rated five stars and has received two different awards for its spectacular performance. One of the best features is the versatile blades that allow you to cut thin hair but are mostly designed for thick hair.

The Butterfly shears have been designed to give a nice and smooth cut, no matter what type of hair you’re dealing with. These are the perfect example of “all-around” kind of scissors and have been given six stars for this. These are handmade shears and have been recommended to those with hand and shoulder fatigue. The rings on the handle of these hair scissors are designed to adjust for ring inserts that provide more comfortability. This pair really keeps the hairdresser in mind while giving a great cut to the client with its diversity of a performance.

Most people get their hair washed before cutting because wet hair can sometimes be easier to cut and/or trim. For others, it may be a quick trip to the salon while they run around with their busy day. If they have no time to get a wash before a cut, Kamisori has designed a great shear for their hair: the Teuton. It has been hand-crafted so that those who prefer dry cutting over wet can get just the results they want. So what’s the difference? The hardness of the steel has been adjusted to give better results and a higher quality cut since the hair is dry.

For all different types of hair, there is a different kind of hair scissor. Accommodating your hair’s texture is what Kamisori loves to keep in mind when designing their products. The idea of a variety of shears to give a great performance is what everyone is looking for when they are shear shopping. Keep this in mind the next time you look for a new pair of shears!

Red Carpet Styling

Looking at your favorite stars on TV seems to attract your attention to hairstyles more than reading a magazine. For example, seeing Kate Winslet’s soft tresses or Jennifer Anniston’s sleek and straight look on the red carpet makes you want to get up and style your own hair just like theirs. There are so many stars on the red carpet who have a variety of looks, but one thing is in common and that is the way the celebs got their look.

Although the red carpet has so many looks, they are all achieved by one common source: heat. Whether it is by a straightener or a curling iron, the stars of Hollywood always look flawless on the red carpet and now you can too. The process for celebrity styling can be very complex but with these few simplified steps, you can accomplish the perfect look for all your nights out.

One of the best parts about styling hair for a big event is that you can use your hair straightener to create so many styles. Not many people know about the versatile functions of a hair  straightener, but when you put this tool to work there are so many things it can accomplish. Going for a polished look is one option, which you can create by simply running a straightener through your hair in a matter of ten or fifteen minutes. Start with your heat protectant spray and begin straightening with an iron. The size will vary based on the type of hair you have. For thick and curly hair, 3-inch wide plates are advised and for thin hair, 1-inch plates are best. Another tip to remember is to run the straightener vertically through your hair to give it a smoother look.

If you are looking to get soft waves, you can easily create just that with a hair straightener. It’s almost identical to the process of straightening your hair, which makes the process even simpler for the stylist. The best way to create curls is to start at the crown of the hair and clamp down. Next while the plates are closed, turn the iron in one full circle and then begin running it down your hair just like you would if you were straightening. There is no standing and waiting with a curling iron in your hair if you use a hair straightener. This process is so efficient when you are short on time as well. Finish off your curls with a fresh spritz of root lifter spray and a quick run through with your fingers to loosen the curls slightly.

Red carpet hairstyles may look impossible to achieve when you see your favorite stars with ridiculously beautiful styles. However, after following the steps above, you will realize how easy it can be to create the exact same looks without spending a fortune on a stylist or a Hollywood curling iron or straightener. Get started making your hair red carpet worthy for your perfect night on the town!

Well, there are a couple of options that when used together, will provide you with thicker, fuller looking hair.

1. The RIGHT haircut/hairstyle – this is your most important step right here, hairstyles for thin hair are designed to help make hair appear and feel fuller and with more volume. Choosing the Right Size Flat Iron For Your Hair Type

April 14, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

One of the things you need to decide when purchasing your flat iron is what plate size is best for your hair so that you get the best straightening performance possible with your new iron. Getting the right plate size for your hair type is important for the hair iron to optimally get the looks you are hoping for from your iron.

The best overall plate width for everyone is the one inch size. One inch plates are intended to straighten medium length hair but is a good catch all size for those looking for a versatile iron.

Of course if you have very thin hair you will want a smaller plate in order to best manage these thin locks. This smaller plate size is ideal also for very short hair since it makes getting those small amounts of hair easier to get into smaller half or three-quarter inch plates.

For those with really thick and very long hair larger plates can be used to straighten the hair. Hair of this type does not need the small minuet details from smaller plates and can be done quicker with the larger plates.

Getting the right size of plates for your hair will ensure that you have the right amount of hot plate to run down your hair but not so little that straightening your locks takes all day long.

Getting the Right Temperature on Your Hair Iron For You

April 9, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

One mistake so many women make when they begin using a hair iron to straighten their hair is to turn the temperature setting on the iron to its maximum level. Many feel that the higher the heat the more effective the iron will be. To some degree this is true but that is not the only thing you need to consider when setting the heat on your variable temperature hair iron such as the Babyliss pro flat iron.

Some hair irons have an upper limit of approximately 200 degrees while others may go all the way up to the area of 400 degrees. Yes, the higher the temperature setting the better job the iron will do straightening your hair and the longer that style will stay locked into your tresses. But for those with damaged or thin hair this high temperature can be devastating to the health of your hair and cause excessive damage. Most women should consider setting the temperature of the iron in the mid to low levels and use them at this setting. With time and experience with your hair iron you will learn your hairstyle and know whether this is effective for you. If it is not than you can start moving the temperature setting up a little at a time until you find the optimal one for you.

Women who have thin hair look at those with thick tresses and wish they had hair like that, but those with that really thick hair sometimes struggle to get good looks with so much hair to work with. To those with thin hair it may sound amazing but too much hair can actually be hard to style and weigh itself down so you do not look your best.

Of course for women who have this problem the solution is very simple and that it thinning. For these women a pair of hair thinning shears in the hands of a skilled stylist can mean getting the easy to manage looks that will have them appearing their absolute best. Thinning shears are specially designed to remove only some of the hair with each cut to do exactly as the name applies, to thin the hair out. This means there will be less hair weighing down the style that will result in more volume even though that sounds like it should be totally opposite. A good thinning can make the style of women with really thick hair pop so that it can looks its best and a stylist with thinning shears can make this happen for a great look.

Love What You Have

Hair styles change so quickly, that it’s hard to keep up with what is currently in style and what’s out of style. It generally depends what hot celebrity wore her hair in a certain way on the red carpet at the latest awards show. But what doesn’t go out of style or change with any frequency is the natural hair that you were born with. Sure, it’s easy to say that you would like a different type of hair. After all, we all seem to want what we don’t have. But, it’s much more effective and better for your self esteem if you learn to embrace what you were born with and learn how to love it.

For better or worse, we were all born with a certain type of hair. Some of us have naturally curly hair, while others have bone straight hair. It seems that we are always yearning for what we don’t have. And sure, it’s great to grab your hair tools and mix it up a little bit giving your normally curly hair a straight look, but what’s wrong with your hair every day looking the way nature intended it? Nothing.

I believe that you should never wear your hair the same every day. After all, that gets boring and isn’t it more exciting to keep people guessing and wondering what you’re going to do? But the first thing you need to do is love the hair you have. Even if it’s not the style that you would have given yourself had you been handing out the hair styles, it’s your hair and you’re stuck with it. So if you have naturally curly hair, instead of using your hair straightener every day, why not wear it curly some of the time? After all, those of us with straight hair will go green with envy for your beautiful natural curls.

Likewise, if you have straight hair, you don’t have to spend all that time in front of the mirror with your curling iron creating luscious waves, because straight hair is sexy too.

When it comes to the thickness of your hair that is something that you can’t really do much about. Those people born with thin hair often bemoan the fact that they want more body in their hair, and would love to have it thicker. But think about the other side of that. If you have thick hair, it can take more than twice as long to blow dry it, it becomes tangled, and often it will look puffy because there’s so much of it. Never mind how hard it can be to pull it back into a simple pony tail. There are always two sides to everything, and as women, we often forget to look at what we have and appreciate it. It’s too easy to covet something that we don’t have.

Hair tools are great, and I think that everyone should have a professional hair straightener and curling iron in their arsenal of styling tools, because they give us options. We can magically turn our naturally curly hair into a sleek style one day and wear it free and curly the next day. But no matter what type of hair tool you have, and what style you create, learn to love what nature gave you because you are the only one with hair like yours.

Hair Straightener Reviews

December 10, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

When it comes to shopping for a hair straightener there is a lot to consider. So many different types of straighteners, plate types, brand names, and different features that it can be confusing to try and figure out which one is right for you. And when you read the product websites, of course they are always going to tell you excellent things about their own products. How can you find an impartial opinion about hair irons? That’s easy, in order to get an impartial opinion about hair irons, you should read different hair straightener reviews.

You will find hair straightener reviews on a variety of web sites that specialize in hair products and hair styles. You can also do a search on the internet for hair iron reviews and see what turns up. When you are reading reviews however, be sure to keep in mind that not all reviews will be useful. You should look for hair straightener reviews that have been written by actual consumers, instead of product representatives in order to get a more impartial opinion about the iron.

Another thing to keep in mind about hair iron reviews is to try and find reviews that offer pictures of the person reviewing or a description of what their hair is like. This is important because if the reviewer has a hair type that is close to yours, the review will apply to you a bit more. Its one thing for someone with fine, thin hair to be reviewing an iron, but it may not relate to you if you have thick, coarse African American hair. It’s an added bonus if the reviewer has a hair type that is similar to yours.

Another thing to remember is that there are usually a few drawbacks to a product. Be wary of hair straightener reviews that are over the top positive. While it is absolutely possible for someone to be so pleased with a product that they have nothing negative to say, it might be an indication that a company representative has written the review.

Another very important thing to keep in mind is that just like anything else, hair straightener reviews are subjective. So it is usually a good idea to read a few different reviews in order to get a fair view of a product. Do not be put off if you read one negative review, the reviewer may be biased or had a uniquely bad experience. Try and read as many reviews as you can and then make your decision based on the majority.

Hair straightener reviews are an excellent way to get a feel for a product from the viewpoint of an actual user. Someone who can try out all of the features and apply it to their own hair, instead of just reading about it on a box. So when you are trying to decide which hair iron to buy, try to seek out a variety of hair straightener reviews before making a decision.

Getting Those Curls To Stay In That Thin Hair

November 7, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

For women with very thin hair sometimes getting curls into your hair is hard enough but then getting them to stay is then next to impossible. There is a solution out there that will help those curls stay in place a little longer without having to put so much hairspray on your head that the hair is crunchy and hard. Tourmaline curling irons can actually help you retain those beautiful curls longer than a regular curling iron can on its own. The negative ions produced by the tourmaline in combination with the ceramic makes these the best curling irons for getting that curl to stay since the curl will take deeper into the hair follicle and not just a little on the outside.

Straightening That Very Curly Hair

October 29, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

Some women have very curly hair and feel that there is not a flat iron out there that can get those stubborn curls out of their locks so they too can get the straight hair styles that are so popular. A professional ceramic iron can get even the tightest curls from the thickest hair with ease. The key is to get a ceramic iron with solid ceramic plates, which heat up evenly based on the temperature the variable control is set to. These irons will heat up the slightly warmer temps that are needed for stubborn hair that normal or even thin hair does not need.
