Can I use a curling iron on my hair after permanent hair straightening?

It is highly recommended that you do not wash, kink or curl your hair for the first 72 hours after having permanent straightening done. After this waiting period it is said that curling your hair is fine although I have read that many women who have chosen to curl their hair after this straightening process have been left with some permanent ‘kinks’ as well as many have found that their hair will not hold the curl or waves for very long.

If you have a special event coming up and would like to have some curls or waves it is suggested that you go back to your stylist who did the straightening and discuss with them about having your hair curled. Your stylist should have the right styling products and tools to help you achieve your desired look without leaving any permanent kinks or curl.

This permanent straightening process is also known as Japanese Hair Straightening, Re-bonding, Japanese Straight Perm, Thermal Reconditioning, Thermal Reconstruction, and Ionic Straightening.
