Get the Perfect Blow Dry – 7 Steps to Dry Hair Fast

November 7, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Cut your hair styling time down considerably with these 7 hair drying tips that will leave your hair soft, shiny and full of bounce!

1. Towel dry your hair by patting hair, avoid rubbing as this causes frizz and damage to the hair.

2. Apply desired hair styling product, a heat protectant is a must to keep hair healthy!

3. For best results, use an Ionic Hair Dryer, without the nozzle. On the high heat and medium speed settings, lift your hair using your fingers while you dry your roots. As you glide your fingers from the roots to the ends of your hair, follow with your blow dryer. Do this until your roots are mostly dry and your ends are slightly damp.

4. To smooth the sides of your hair, part your hair horizontally two inches from the back hairline and clip up the front section so it is out of your way. Put your nozzle back on your hair dryer and set your hair dryer to the high heat and speed setting.

5. Using  a round hair brush pull sections about 3 inches wide out to the side and wrap the ends of your hair around the hair brush and hold hair in place using your thumb. Making sure the nozzle is pointed downwards at all times, run the hair dryer up and down the section of hair.

6. To add volume to your hair, unclip the front section of your hair and starting at the front of your head, place the round brush under your hair and pull the section straight up and then roll hair back towards the scalp following with your hair dryer. Hold for a few seconds and then unroll. Repeat this step until the front section of your hair is dry.

7. To set hair and make hair smooth and shiny, put your blow dryer on the cool setting and go over all of your hair.

Goodbye To Wet Head With An Ionic Hair Dryer

Recently I had a discussion about blow drying with a friend of mine. We live in a cold climate where if you went outside in the winter, would be a sure fire way to create a head full of icicles and invite pneumonia into your life. My girlfriend asked me how I always managed to have my hair styled in the morning and have it looking so good. She was stunned when I told her that simply blow dried my hair every morning just as I always did. This was her response, “But if you use a hair dryer every day, you’ll wreak your hair!” She was shocked that I did this; I was equally as shocked that she didn’t.

Instead of drying her hair everyday, she reserved her hair dryer for only a few days a week and the rest of the time let her hair air dry which meant she had to wash her hair at night. While I think that air drying your hair is a great way to go on a Saturday, or if you just want to have a laid back day, it doesn’t seem like the best way to go when you need to present a polished image at the office, and letting your hair air dry is equally as ludicrous when it’s -30 outside. So what’s a girl to do?

I’ll tell you what I told my friend. I don’t worry about damaging my hair by drying it everyday because I use an ionic hair dryer. What is that? Well, I’ll tell you; this is not your $10 cheapy hair dryer that you can buy at the drugstore. I believe that my hair deserves to be treated well, and so do I. An ionic dryer uses ionic technology to dry your hair which means that negative ions are infused into each hair. Negative ions work on the hair by drying it from the inside- out, so your hair dries much faster. This isn’t only better for your hair, because it’s being exposed to the heat for a shorter time, but it also completes the drying process much faster so you’re out of the bathroom with perfectly styled hair in a fraction of the time.

Choosing a hair dryer that utilizes ceramic components is also a great idea. Ceramic heat is a moist heat which means that the moist ceramic heat works on the hair, creating soft, shiny and more manageable hair. So not only is your hair dry, but it looks amazing too.

A hair dryer such as the Karmin Turbo Ionic Professional hair dryer is the perfect example of a hair dryer that can accomplish all of these things for your hair.

No longer do you need to worry about damaging your hair by drying it everyday. You can use a hair dryer confident that your hair will be dry, and perfectly styled while being healthy all at the same time. So don’t think about going out with a wet head in the winter, leave your house looking great everyday with an ionic hair dryer.

What To Look For In Your Ionic Hair Dryer

Heat is the biggest enemy of the health of your hair and everyone knows that to look your best you need to get your hair at its most vital. One of the sources we expose our hair to the most heat with is the blow dryer and this can really take its toll if you use an inexpensive model often. Ionic hair dryers are scientifically proven to be better for the health of your hair since they do not use as much heat to get your hair dry for you.

Of course there are lots of ionic hair dryers on the market and each has its own features available and some of these are more important than others. Most all of them have variable temperature settings but some only offer a couple of settings while others offer several for a wider selection. This gives you more control over how much heat the dryer will use and expose your hair to.

Other useful features include dual voltages so that you can use your ionic blow dryer anywhere as well as a cold air shot to help set the style you have created with one easy shot of cool air.

No Need to Damage Your Hair While Excercising

January 13, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Does exercise affect the quality of your hair? This may seem like a strange question, but it can be true, and a very real concern for people who are affected by this particular problem.

I recently had a friend of mine tell me that she had to quit swimming laps in the pool, an exercise that she really enjoys because it was affecting her hair. My friend was experiencing dryness, breakage and discoloration of her hair because of the chemicals in the pool and she didn’t want to use her usual hair tools to style her hair for fear of further damage.  Her solution to the problem was simply to quit swimming, however there are other options, and your solution does not need to be quite so dramatic.

If your favorite exercise option is swimming, there are defiantly things that you can do to protect your hair so you can continue to enjoy your favorite sport. The first thing you should do is wear a swim cap. These latex or rubber caps won’t keep out all the water from reaching your hair; however they dramatically reduce the exposure that your hair has to harmful chemicals in the pool. Plus, the swim cap also has the added benefit of keeping the strap of your goggles away from your hair which can cause tearing and ripping.

When you get out of the pool the very first thing you should do is to rinse your hair. Be sure that you get as much of the pool water off your body and out of your hair. Always follow this with a deep leave in conditioner that can sit on your hair, saturating it with the conditioning. And remember, never brush wet hair. Always use a wide toothed comb to release tangles when your hair is wet. Use an ionic hair dryer to dry your hair with the least amount of damage. By following these few simple tips, you shouldn’t have to worry about excessive damage to your hair from swimming.

Other people experience damage to their hair from exercising because they tend to pull hair up in a pony tail for most activities. If you use the wrong type of pony tail holder, there could be tearing and ripping of your hair, and often you will see damage at the crown of the head, right where a pony tail would be.

As an alternative to a pony tail, try braiding your hair for exercise. This can be much gentler on your hair, reducing the pressure from the elastic bands. Or, if your hair is short enough, pull it back with a head band to keep it out of your face? If a pony tail is your only option, be sure to choose the right type of elastic. No-tear elastic that is completely rubberized is a good choice. These bands do not have metal pieces that can cause snapping. Also, look for cloth covered elastics, these will be soft on your hair. When you are done exercising, be sure to gently remove the elastic and comb out your hair.

If you are exercising in the hot summer sun, it is a good idea to wear a hat to protect your tresses from sun damage. The sun can fade out your hair and make it dry and brittle, so cover up.

There is no reason that you cannot enjoy your favorite sport or activity without causing damage to your hair, you simply need to think ahead and perhaps take a few extra precautions. When you’re done working out, you can grab your hair straightener and style your hair as you normally would, confidant that you’re looking your best every day.

Hair Dryers: The Most Important Tool

December 31, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

There is always one thing in the bathroom that everyone takes for granted. That one hair tool that never gets any thought. The hair dryer. It is very unfortunate that this essential tool doesn’t get the respect that it deserves, after all it is probably the most frequently used hair tool in the bathroom. It really should get some more attention.

So are you one of those people guilty of not giving your due respect to your hair dryer? Chances are good that you are. Take a good look at your hair dryer, and if you’ve had the same one for over five years, or it seems like it takes you forever to dry your hair, you should probably consider upgrading.

Many people will say, “It’s just a hair dryer, any one will do. I’ll save my money for a hair straightener or curling iron.” But this is a bad attitude, and you aren’t doing yourself or your hair any favors by ignoring your hair dryer.

Investing in a quality hair dryer is not only an investment in yourself, but it’s an excellent investment in your hair. Think about this, if you are applying direct heat to your hair everyday, that heat is going to start doing damage to your hair, drying it out, making it frizzy and dull looking as all of the natural moisture and oils are stripped from your hair. And who wants that to happen to their hair? No one. That’s why you need to invest in an ionic hair dryer that will dry your hair effectively, without all of the damage. It is not a given that you have to damage your hair when you dry it. Not at all.

An ionic hair dryer takes advantage of negative ions that are blasted onto each hair, infusing them. The negative ions act on each hair to close the cuticle, effectively sealing in moisture and natural oils. Because the hair cuticle is being closed, each hair will lay flat on the head instead of standing up which gives that frizzy, out of control look.

Another amazing feature of an ionic hair dryer is that using one actually cuts the drying time in half. Some ionic hair dryers actually dry hair up to 60% faster than a regular hair dryer. That not only means that your hair isn’t being exposed to damaging heat as long, but also that you spend less time drying your hair, and more time styling it. Getting you out of the bathroom quicker and on to your day.

When you are looking for a hair dryer, be sure to choose one that uses ionic technology and incorporates ceramic elements into the construction. It is time that you start paying attention to the most undervalued hair tool of all time. A quality hair dryer is an essential tool in any hair care arsenal and you will be pleasantly surprised to see the amazing results it will have on your hair.

What the Pros Use

December 5, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

When you walk into the hair salon, all of the hair stylists have their stations set up with the various tools of the trade, and cords running everywhere. But what hair tools do they have on those stations. No one usually gives it much thought, you simply sit in the chair, let your stylist get down to business and leave with a beautiful head of hair. But there are many things at work to get your hair looking that beautiful; not least of all are the tools that your stylist uses to create those stunning hair styles.

Taking a closer look at what is on those hair stations you will find a wide range of products, but there is one thing that every single hair stylist’s station has in common. They all use high quality hair tools. And you should expect nothing less from a hair stylist. If you walk into a salon and see a low quality metal plate hair straightener, run out of there fast!

So what does a hair stylist look for in a quality hair tool? That’s an excellent question, because obviously you want what the professionals use so you too can have stunning hair at home. Let’s start with the hair dryer. Hair stylists are usually in a hurry, they have a lot of clients to see and they need each one looking their best – quickly.

An ionic hair dryer is usually the dryer of choice because of the use of negative ions. Negative ions penetrate the hair shaft and dry the hair from the inside out, instead of the outside – in, like other hair dryers. The result is that hair dries quicker which means that stylists can move on to the next phase of styling faster and as an added bonus, your hair is exposed to the heat for a much shorter period, which means you won’t experience damage.

When it comes to hair straighteners, this is probably one of the most popular tools for most stylists right now so they need a high quality tool that will stand up to repetitive use and provide the best shine and finish to each clients hair.

The number one thing that stylists look for in a hair straightener is ceramic plates. Because many stylists leave their irons on for long periods, the ceramic plates will hold the heat, keeping the temperature consistent for the entire period. You don’t have to worry about the plates cooling off, or getting hot spots.

Another popular feature in hair straighteners right now is the use of silver or Nanosilver technology in the plates. This fairly new technology utilizes the power of natural antibacterial elements which actually fight the bacteria and germs that can collect on your hair straightener and your hair. This is perfect for a salon environment where tools are being used on multiple people.

Tourmaline is also a very popular feature for hair straighteners because the tourmaline infuses each hair, closing the cuticle and making the hair look shiny, healthy and beautiful. Which is ultimately what the hair stylist wants for each client.

So now that you know what the pros are using, what’s stopping you from enjoying the same benefits for your hair at home?

Create Festive Styles with the Right Tools

December 3, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

When it comes to looking your best, there is never a more important time to look hot with a styling hair do than at your yearly Christmas parties. And not only is it important to look your best with a fancy new dress, and some glam makeup, but you cannot forget about your hair. Because after all, you wouldn’t be looking and feeling so festive if your hair was doing the same old boring thing it did every year.

Yes, Christmas is the perfect festive season to pull out your curling iron, your hair straightener and your hair dryer and start your styling engines. You don’t have to spend a fortune at the beauty salon to have a gorgeous hair style; all you need is the right tools and a little imagination.

Of course no matter what style you are trying to achieve, you want it to look healthy, shiny and dazzling. Not frizzy, dry and damaged. So it is important that to create a healthy hair base, you dry your hair with an ionic hair dryer. Choose a hair dryer that has ceramic coated elements and the addition of tourmaline because these items will create negative ions that will actually dry the hair from the inside, out which means that it will reduce the amount of time it takes to dry your hair, giving you more time to style it into a beautiful up do. Besides giving you more time to style, which is a gift in itself, this type of quality hair dryer will make your hair look even healthier because the negative ions close each hair cuticle, allowing them to lay flat and retain their natural healthy shine.

It’s often easier to style your up do if you start with straight, sleek hair. Once your hair is completely dry, use a ceramic or titanium straightener to create that sleek look. Using a quality hair iron also adds shine and a natural luster to your hair that will make any up do look extra special.

Once you place a few strategic pins and clips, you can also use your hair straightener to flip up edges, smooth tendrils to frame your face or even create curls. Of course, if you’re looking for a very curly look, a quality curling iron will help you create the cascade of curls you are looking for. Choose a ceramic barreled curling iron for the smoothest curls, and after that, you must decide on the size of curls you are trying to create. If you want tight, corkscrew tendrils, look for a smaller barreled curling iron, and for soft, flowing waves, a bigger barrel will do the trick.

Creating festive up dos can be a lot of fun, and with the right tools for the job, it is easier than you think. Simply use your imagination and take some time to practice and soon you will have a styling new hair style for the party season that will dazzle all of your coworkers, friends and family members.

How Does Ionic Technology Work?

November 23, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

You know when you are towel dry your hair or brush your dry hair and all of a sudden it seems to be frizzy and sometimes full of static? This is because the friction from the towel or brush pulls away the negative ions and leaves your hair with a positive charge which in turn causes the static and frizz.

Ionic hair dryers and hair straighteners with ionic technology work to emit negative ions which in turn neutralize the hairs atoms and eliminate the static and frizz making the hair smoother. Ionic technology also works to dry your hair faster as it causes the water molecules to fall of the hair shaft more quickly.

For those of you with very fine or lifeless hair, ionic technology is not the best for you as it works to reduce the activity in the hair. If you use a hair iron or dryer that features ionic technology be sure to stay clear of your roots, only using your ionic styling tools for the bottom and back sections of your hair.

If you find that when using a hair straightener it leaves your roots flat, don’t start straightening directly from the roots. To help get more volume at the roots with your flat iron pull the iron straight up, as if creating a Mohawk, while straightening and use a flexible hairspray to spray the roots before letting hair back down.

Ionic Hair Dryers and Negative Ions

November 5, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

If you walk into any salon right now and look at the blow dryers they are currently using you will see that they prefer ionic hair dryers to the many other types. Traditional hair dryers release positive ions as they dry hair that ends up exposing the hair to more heat damage since they do not effectively and quickly dry your hair as newer ionic models do. These positive ions also open the hair cuticles up which promotes frizzy dry looking hair as opposed to the negative ions which leave your locks looking luxurious and healthy.

The negative ions which are emitted from the ionic blow dryers break water molecules down which speeds up drying times and exposes the hair to less hot air resulting in significantly reduced potential for hear damage. Other benefits of these units are tightened cuticles, which mean no frizz or dry out of control hair and less time and heat needed to get that hair dry quicker. With benefits like these every woman should be using a ionic hair dryer to dry their hair each and every day. Though they cost more than the traditional hair dryer what you will save in styling products to keep your hair healthy that you will no longer need make them well worth the money.

Look Beautiful Anywhere in the World

Heading out for a holiday or a business trip can be exciting, overwhelming and sometimes just plain daunting. No matter where you are going, you will no doubt have a million things to think about. What to pack, flight arrangements to make, where you will be staying. Just to name a few. The last thing that you should have to think about is how you will be styling your hair while you are away from home.  No matter where you are in the world, you should be able to look fabulous right? So when it comes to packing, make sure you have room for your essential hair styling tools.

If you’re like me, you may have been tempted from time to time to leave your hair dryer at home because, “The hotel will have one.” And yes, the hotel will have one. But what type of hair dryer, do you really think the hotel will have? Is it going to be a top notch, high quality ionic hair dryer that will dry your hair in half the time without any damage? Not likely. If a hotel has to provide hundreds of hair dryers in each and every hotel room, you can bet they will be the cheapest ones that they can find.

You wouldn’t use the cheap hair dryer at home, because you know it will damage your hair. So why would you use it on holidays? Forget the hotel hair dryer and pack your own. If you are crunched for space, consider purchasing a quality travel hair dryer. Just because they’re small and compact, does not mean you have to sacrifice quality if you choose a good one.

When you’re packing your bags, be sure to leave enough room for your hair straightener and curling iron if those are regularly used styling tools. There is no reason that you should have to face the world with frizzy; un-styled hair just because you are in a different part of it. You probably wouldn’t leave your make up at home, so why leave your hair styling tools at home? Unless you plan on wearing a hat 24/7 while you’re away, you are going to want your hair to look good too.

When you travel with your hair tools, you should take extra precautions to keep them safe. If you are concerned about having to pack up quickly after using either a hair straightener or a curling iron, you should invest in a heat proof pouch that will allow you to put your tool away even when it’s hot and you won’t risk damaging any of your belongings. The pouch also helps to protect the tool from scratching or any other damage.

When you are packing in a suitcase that will be a checked bag on an airplane, try to put the hair tool in the middle of your bag between layers of clothes to keep it safe. Sadly, improperly packed tools will end up broken because of clumsy baggage handling.

It’s also important not to wrap your cords around the tool themselves. This can damage the cord and if the cord doesn’t work, your tool is useless. Instead, roll the cord up separately and fasten with a tie or elastic to keep it together.

Taking a little bit of extra effort to pack your hair styling tools will be well worth it in the end when you are on holidays and out for dinner looking smashing as always, while the women around you stare in envy wishing they had thought to pack their curling irons or hair straighteners too.
