John Frieda Knows Hair

June 13, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

We’ve all seen the hair products on the market for John Frieda. His products are usually for some kind of frizz control and to help tame the beast in our hair. Lots of women buy his special serums over any other frizz products because of the name behind the product. Why wouldn’t you buy a product from one of the most well-known and knowledgeable hairstylists in the world?

Although Frieda’s most popular products are mainly focused on frizz, it doesn’t mean he just works with frizzy hair. As a stylist, he knows he must be well-rounded in many areas of hair like cutting, coloring, repairing, etc. So where does he begin with helping his clients? The expertise and how to get to perfection of course.

One of John Frieda’s most popular products is the serum for frizz. He began with this line because of the amount of humidity in the air and the amount of frizz women experience. It can be extremely frustrating when you try to use a straightener and all you get is a bunch of strands poking out every which way your hair falls. Frieda realizes no one wants their hair to look like that so he came out with not only a serum, but a whole line of products to help control frizz. That line now contains a shampoo, conditioner, a heat protection spray, and a lightweight spray to prevent frizz for days.

Another reason Frieda has so much fame is thanks to his line of products called Sheer Blonder. This line creates a new look for women whose roots are too overpowering for their blonde locks. Many women are looking to go lighter when summertime leaves. You see, in the summer women can easily sit in the sun and let it lighten up their ends as well as their roots. However, some need a little boost and that’s what these products are for. The whole package includes shampoo, conditioner and a lightening spray which can be applied before you use your straightener.

There are many kinds of lines from the John Frieda collection and they all have different goals. Whether you need a little help with styling, lightening up, repairing damage, or preserving colors, there are many different products that will match what you need. You can always trust John Frieda, the expert stylist for all things hair when you’re looking for great styles.

March Madness – The Hair Version

March 25, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Spring time is here and the weather has already started showing a little preview of the humidity that comes in the summer time. This creates a little March madness in your life and I’m not referring to any basketball tournaments. I’m talking about those awful days where you wake up and your hair won’t do anything styling-wise. What choice do you have other than to just throw it up into a frizzy and not-so-hot-looking ponytail. These days are some of the most frustrating times for so many women because they may have an everyday style that they can’t perform on those days because of the humidity in the air.

Cutting back on styles isn’t very fun, especially in the spring. This is the perfect time of year to play around with styles and be cute every day of the week because everything around us is starting to wake up and show its beauty. It wouldn’t be fair to let hair just fall boring and be frizzy everyday if you have a certain plan for it. Sometimes the problem is so bad that even a hair straightener can’t help you. Luckily you can make it pretty each day by following these two tips.

One thing that most people wouldn’t think to do is avoid blow drying as much as you can. With all the humidity and moisture that is in the air this time of year, your hair already contains enough frizz. If you apply even more heat to it after showering, you will only be allowing more frizz to form and cause problems for the rest of your day. So please, do yourself a favor: save some time and some frizz by letting it towel or air dry when you shower.

To also cut down on that frizz, it helps to sleep with a pillow that has a silk case over the top. It’s great for your hair because it does wonders compared to a cotton pillow. When you sleep against cotton (especially with wet hair) your hair gets tangled and rubs up against the fibers to create even more static and frizz than with a silk pillow. Silk is a type of lint-free fabric so it doesn’t have the same fibers to attract to your hair and mess up its texture. Therefore, when you wake up in the morning, your hair will be dry and won’t contain as much frizz.

Hair is much easier to handle when it doesn’t contain frizz. There’s too much fun to experience in the summer for you to have to stay inside just to avoid humid air. These easy tips and tricks will get you one step closer to frizz-free. Do remember that your hair will still contain some frizz, these methods just help tame a good portion of the problem and won’t get rid of the entire problem.

Spring Transformation Cuts

March 9, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Bust out the hair shears, it’s time to get rid of your boring winter hairstyle and bring out a fun new ‘do for the new season. Spring needs a little splash of fun and what better way to bring out your fun side than to get a fun new cut. No matter how much time it takes, it is definitely worth the time and effort. Your final transformation in the end will be enough proof that the time and money are worth the investment.

Some of the easiest styles to perfect are during the spring season, especially the early spring time. This is because the humidity in the air is beginning to change in the early part of spring, so you’re catching the frizz and damaged ends right at the perfect time. It’s much easier to cut hair in the transition of seasons rather than in the middle of the summer when the hair is filled with frizz and bulky ends that have been damaged by humidity. Use this to your advantage when you get your new cut for springtime.

Some of the hottest trends in hair right now are being drenched with shine and glam. One of the biggest trends of spring this year, 2012, is to have “glistening hair” according to Harper’s Bazaar. Whether you long and bouncy curls or a short and pin-straight bob, your hair could definitely fit in this spring when its paired with some shine. To complete this look, buy yourself a fresh trim from your hairstylist to start out and be sure she cuts off all of the damaged ends. The best part of this spring trend is that you don’t have to use your shears all that much. As long as your stylist gets rid of the dead ends in your hair, you can just get by with a trim and finish it off with your shining serum.

On the other hand, some girls do a completely new look for their spring/summer cut and are more than happy to lose tons of their locks. If you’d be interested in doing something like this to keep cooler in the awful humidity, there are a few easy and simple steps to follow. One piece of advice to start out with is to put this project into the hands of a professional. If you usually give yourself at-home trims, do not trust yourself to perform a spring transformation style like this.

A couple of fun trends for getting hair all cut off include the pixie cut, and the short Victoria Beckham style. These styles are very easy and fun to play with as long as you keep it thin and edgy. With a pixie cut, you should always be looking for choppy and extremely short so that the ends are fun yet easy to take care of each day. This is one of the easiest styles of summer/spring because it has the least amount of hair and is easiest to style.

As for the Beckham bob, you need the help of your stylist to get a really good angle. Start with extreme layers that stack up the back of your head of hair. Make sure she keeps it light and thin so it’s not an overbearing process to style it each morning. The point of this cut is to accentuate your cheek bones and give a little volume to the roots of your hair. To do this, have your stylist bring the sides of the bob down to the ears and cut them at an angle so each side stars at the stack behind the head and “diags” all the way down to your earlobes or longer (your choice). Edgy is always fun for spring and it’s totally in this year!

Whether you plan on getting all your hair chopped off, or just getting a quick trim to keep cool for the spring/summer seasons, these ideas are sure to help. With funky bobs to long and “glistening” hair, you are sure to get a great look that will turn heads this season!

Why Won’t My Hair Stay Straight?

January 21, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Ever had that moment where your hair looks great and perfectly straight? You can tell this will be a great day but once you step outside and it gains back its frizz and curly texture. Your day can ruined with one step into the heat and humidity of outdoors. Now you must go back in and re straighten it. But wait, you’re already late for work and have no time to perfect the frizz of a mess that has been created!

If this does happen repeatedly to you, it may be time to rethink your straightening process. You may be asking your stylist why your hair isn’t staying straight as the day goes on. She may say the cause of this is because it is being exposed to an excessive amount of moisture after you style. What you can do to help prevent the return of the messy hair is use a new method of styling.

Try applying your thermal spray first and then wait a few minutes before you straighten. This time slot is to allow time for you to apply a mousse to your hair that will help lock in the necessary amount of moisture and seal out all moisture you won’t need the rest of the day. This is a great way that celebrities prevent disasters on the red carpet and now so can you!

Begin by scooping some mud or mousse out of the container and spreading it evenly throughout the ends of the hair. One thing you need to be careful is the amount of product you apply to the hair. Since it is such a thick material that you are putting in your hair, it can give your hair a greasy look if you’re not careful. You’re looking for a shiny texture and look, not slippery and greasy. The perfect amount to use is about the size of a pea and if it doesn’t look too greasy, you can add small amounts no bigger than a dime.

Locking in moisture doesn’t have to be hard when you straighten your hair. You can complete the task in a matter of twenty minutes and still look like a million bucks. Amounts of humidity exposure and mousse to retain shine and straight locks are the main things to be concerned with. As long as you keep those two things in mind your hair should look great everyday.

Plan Ahead For Great Vacation Hair

January 22, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Do you have a vacation planned? Maybe you’re trying to get away from your cold winter at home or you just need a break from every day life? Whatever your reason for getting away, that’s great! Everyone needs a vacation once in awhile, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t want your hair to look great while you’re away.

When it comes to packing your regular hair tools and styling supplies while you are on vacation, you might be overwhelmed and not really sure where to begin. If you are like a lot of women, you probably have a drawer full of styling tools and equipment and you may not want to take them all with you when you travel.

The first thing you need to decide is what you want your hair to look like while you are away. If you are going to an all inclusive beach club and are going to be spending most of your time by the pool or by the beach you probably don’t need to bother with straightening your hair or curling your hair everyday. I mean why spend precious vacation minutes styling your hair when it is only going to be ruined the minute you jump into the pool? So instead, leave the straightener behind and try a different technique. If you hair is naturally curly, go with it. In fact, the extra humidity of tropical locations will enhance your curls so pack some mouse or gel and scrunch them up.

If you don’t want your curls to become unruly, treat yourself to some new hair accessories and get some headbands, barrettes and pony tail holders to keep your hair off your face and looking stylish.

Of course, you may be traveling somewhere where you want to look great all the time. In that case, you will have to pack your hair tools. But maybe you don’t need to pack everything? Depending on how long you are going to be gone, it might be okay to only pack your hair straightener. In fact, your hair iron is the most versatile hair tool there is, so if you want straight hair one day, loose sexy curls the next day, and a sleek look with flirty flips on the ends, you can achieve all of that with only one hair tool.

Depending on where you are traveling and staying there may be a hair dryer available to you in your hotel room. But if you like knowing what type of hair dryer you are using, you should bring your own. A good travel dryer can save you a lot of time and energy drying your hair and will also fold down and fit in your suitcase easily.

Where ever you plan on escaping to this winter, you can look stylish and fantastic, it just requires a little bit of planning on your part. Remember, your hair should be a secondary consideration when you’re on holidays. Your primary concern should be having a great time and enjoying your time away.

Travel in Style

Once you have your style mastered at home, you can wake up each morning and create your perfect style without even really thinking about it. But what will you do when it comes to traveling? Do you think you’ll be able to create your style when you’re on the road without a lot of effort? For many women, the answer is no. They need to be at home with of their hair iron and blow dryer and everything at their finger tips. But just because you are traveling doesn’t mean that you cannot have beautiful hair, you just need to prepare yourself.

If you’re traveling on airplanes you must remember the latest safety rules. So you will not be able to take any gels, hairsprays or other styling liquids on the plane with you. If that’s a problem for you while you’re traveling, or you will be on some very long flights where you want to look your best, consider putting your hair in a braid, a stylish pony tail, or some other very simple and manageable style that will not need a lot of readjustment or care.

Once you arrive at your destination, your hair may experience some changes. That is because everywhere you go, the conditions will be different. There will be different temperatures, and humidity conditions to consider. For example, if you live on the dry prairies, and you travel to a tropical location, your hair will experience a big shift in humidity which means that if you have curly hair, it will have much more volume, and it may be harder for you to style initially, until you get used to the changes. Be prepared for these changes and don’t panic, you will be able to figure out how to adjust your styling techniques to account for these differences. You may even discover a cool new style for your hair.

Don’t forget that in each country, there are different voltages, which means that your hair tools may not work in other countries unless you have an adapter to help you use your tools. Sometimes the cost of these adapters can be quite high, you may want to consider buying tools in the country you are visiting if you are going to be there for awhile, or you can always readjust your style for the length of your visit.

Traveling can be a lot of fun, and a big adventure. If you feel it’s important to you and your happiness to have the exact same style everyday that you are on your holiday, then you will want to pay special attention to how you can travel with your hair styling tools safely and effectively. But another alternative would be to enjoy your holiday with a completely different style. Perhaps this means trying your hair curly while you are on holiday in a humid environment? Or maybe that means wearing your hair in braids or up styles every day?

Whatever way you decide to holiday, remember that great hair styles can happen anywhere in the world. So pack appropriately, and have fun.

Some women use their hair straightening iron perfectly and get those sleek tresses that are so popular right now on the red carpet. Usually this is caused by extra heat and humidity in the air caused by the weather. But there are a few steps you can take to keep that hair straight and looking its best.

Use your blow dryer before you begin using your flat iron even if it is already dry, and try straightening your hair at a higher temperature setting with your professional flat iron. Also use products specially designed for straight hair and use a flexible hold spray to hold it in place once you remove those curls. And of course if you live somewhere where the humidity is especially high than use a shine serum to help battle the extra moisture in the air and keep those locks straight and beautiful all day long.
