A Style For Each Day

July 11, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Sometimes I get so bored with the same hairstyle every day of the week. I see girls wearing ponytails every single day and others who straighten their hair every day too. To me that’s just boring and I need to mix it up every once in a while. That’s why I came up with a few new styles for me (and you) to sport for each day of the week. You see this kind of stuff in magazines in the hair section but these will be easy to achieve I can promise and they won’t have a billion steps that are hard to follow.

A typical hairstyle of so many people is to just straighten your hair and let it fall past your shoulders. This works every once in a while but when you want to dress your style up a bit more or maybe not as much, you can go with an easy-fixin’ style. Just know that you don’t have to wear your hair in these styles in the exact order every week; change up the order in which you wear each style.

On a Monday you might want to start the week with a great style for a great impression. This day, you could straighten your hair to show off the length. Make sure you use your heat protectant spray. I’m sure we’ve all used a hair straightener before though so style how you love to with your iron.

Tuesday can be your fun day with a flirty side pony. I tend to tie my hair back into a side ponytail and then choose pieces from the tail to curl-this way they look fresh and not smashed like they would if you’d curl before tying it all back. You can even add some fun with your bangs by pinning them back or leaving them down curled to add extra flirt.

Wednesday is hump day which means you might need a break from your technical styling. To do so, it’s as easy as showering and leaving your hair with a damp look. Each time I sport this style, it saves me about ten minutes because I just put a little product in my damp hair to give a natural wave look. Sometimes I pull my bangs back for a more put-together look or leave them down.

Thursday to me is a fancy day again so I like to go with the Snooki-inspired poof. You can curl or straighten your hair for this style but if you’re in a time crunch I recommend you straighten to make things easier. I like to curl my hair (you can use any method of curling that you like) because it can hide split ends that may be visible if I straighten. Next I make sure my part is far to the side and I backcomb the crown of my hair. Grab as much hair as you would like and pin it back behind your head about in the middle.

Friday is fun day! I love these days because I tend to go with any freestyle kind of hair ‘do that I feel like. If you’re feeling creative, don’t be afraid to try out a new style that you thought of on your own! My favorite style to do on Friday’s is to reuse my curls from Thursday and sport a spunky high ponytail to reflect the spunkiness that Friday’s represent.

These are some of the easiest styles you can ever do with your hair and don’t take much time either. The weekends are yours to come up with creative styles or reuse any of the styles from the week. Just always remember to use plenty of protectant spray if you’re going to use your hair straightener and always be cautious if you’re going to tease the hair also.

Keeping Hair Healthy When Straightening

For those with naturally curly hair who prefer to straighten their locks often, proper care should be taken to ensure the hair remains healthy and vibrant under these styling conditions. When shampooing your hair use moisturizing products as well as a leave in conditioner to help your hair be hydrated and healthy for the extra styling. Dry your hair section by section while using a soft large brush to beginning straightening the hair before you even get the hair iron out. Once dry finish straightening with a hair styling iron to get an absolutely stunning straight hair look.

How to Use a Hair Straightener

I wanted to do a quick post on how to use a hair straightener because I get quite a few emails from customers asking how to get the best results from their Karmin Professional Flat Iron. Also, I occasionally come across someone who has never used a hair straightener before so this is for those of you who want to know how you can use your hair iron to it’s fullest potential and get the best results every time!

*It is important that you know a few things before using your hair straightener, such as having clean hair and using a heat protectant to prevent from heat damage.

Once you know what you need to do before you start, you’re ready to use your flat iron! Turn it on to the desied temperature and as it heats up follow step 1.

Step 1. – Section clean, dry hair and pin up with hair clips.

Step 2. - Taking your flat iron in one hand, grab a 1″ section of hair from the first layer and starting as close to the roots as your are comfortable with, put the section of hair between the plates clamp your iron onto the hair. Slowly glide the iron down the section until you reach the ends of your hair.

Style tip - If you have super curly hair blow dry hair straight before using your flat iron and follow hair straightener on the section of hair with a comb to help smooth hair as you straighten it.

Style tip - If you want a super straight look, keep the iron straight and let the ends come out from the iron. If you want a bit of a flip at the ends twist the iron in a flipping motion either direction when you near the last inch of hair. Twisting the iron out will flip hair out, whereas flipping it in will flip hair under.

Step 3 - Continue Step 2. over the rest of your hair, section by section. After completing one layer, let down the next and so on.

Step 4 - When you have completed your entire head of hair you can touch up any needed areas.

Step 5 - When you have your desired look set hair with an anti-frizz shine serum or flexible hold hairspray.

Style Tip - If this is your first time using a hair straightener and you are a little intimidated, try using the iron with the heat off or very low to get a good feel for the iron.
