September 20, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

If you have ever had your hair straightened at a hair salon you know that the tools a professional stylist uses to get the curl out are some of the best available. Of course they have the best hair straighteners since working with their hair is their profession and a tool of the trade. But you too can get these quality hair straighteners and get salon straightening results at home with a professional hair iron of your own. In the long run buying your own iron and straightening your hair at home will be easier on your budget and you can get the look whenever you want.

Using Ceramic Hair Irons for Straight Hair

The hot look for summer is long straight hair and if you were not born with straight hair you do not have to live without the latest hairstyle. Of course hair can be chemically treated to be straight, but this is a long process at a hair salon that costs a lot of money and it is down right unpleasant to endure. A great alternative would be to get one of the many hair straightening irons that are readily available and remove those curls yourself. A tourmaline ceramic hair iron is extremely effective at removing the waves from the curliest hair safely and effectively.

Look for ceramic hair straighteners, which have a variable temperature setting so that you can use the temperature that best suits your hair type to work with the hair. With flat irons the temperature used is very important and ceramic irons heat up better and are more evenly heated across the plate to ensure the accuracy of the temperature you are applying to your locks. All you need to do is glide the smooth ceramic plates from the root of your hair to the tip in small sections to remove the frizz and curl and end up with that gorgeous straight hair that everyone wants right now.

How to Wave Hair

We’ve all been out walking and noticed the girl with the lovely waves of hair, wondering how we could have hair like that.

Most girls have natural waves where they just wash and go. Some of us it takes a little work. A lot of styling products, scrunching, blowdry styling upside down. Most of the time we just go to the hair salon and get a body wave which at least lasts approx. 3 months. This type of body wave does dry out the hair a little more than just the blowdry styling, but at least it stays for awhile.

You could also use a larger curling iron, or you can add waves to your hair with a hair straightener. A 1″ professional hair iron will make great waves that hold all day. The bigger curling irons work great because you can chose how big you want your waves. I found that using the velcro rollers did not work so well, they don’t stay firmly in and therefore produce loose fitting waves.
