So every generation has done something to get those curls in or out of their hair and get that look they want. Women of today do not realize just how lucky they are that the hair straightening irons and curling irons available do not cause the damage that some of the methods of the past have done to the hair of some women.
Say Goodbye to Bad Hair Days

Do you have dry frizzy hair that has been over styled by chemicals, colors, hair dryers, curling irons and blow dryers? It can be very frustrating to have dry, damaged hair and not be able to style it because you don’t want to damage it further. Flipping through magazines, looking at the models with beautiful, soft, healthy hair, it’s easy to feel envious of their beautiful locks. But you would think that professional models who get their hair styled so frequently would suffer from damaged hair as well. So why does their hair look so amazing when yours looks fried?
Even if you have over styled and damaged hair, you can achieve the beautiful locks like those models in the magazines. The thing that they are doing differently than you is using quality hair styling tools and products. Take a good look at your equipment. Are you using top quality styling products and tools? No? Well it’s time you did. By investing a little bit in some quality items you will be able to style your hair every day without fear of damage.
Look for tools that use ceramic as a material because the smooth ceramic on a curling iron and a hair straightener provide an even heat which means you don’t need to be concerned about hot spots and burning your hair. The ceramic also allows your hair to slide smoothly over the tool which means it won’t snag or pull causing your hair to rip.
Another thing to look for is a tool with tourmaline in it. Tourmaline is a naturally occurring element that emits negative ions. Negative ions enter your hair shaft, actually drying it from the inside –out which means that your hair will dry faster and does not need as much exposure to the heat that can cause damage. Another benefit of tourmaline is that the negative ions will close the hair shaft locking in the hairs natural moisture. Allowing your hair to retain its natural oils help it look and feel healthier. Your hair will be bouncy, shiny and soft.
Tourmaline blow dryers are very effective at drying your hair in a fraction of the time as a regular blow dryer making them a great investment. Because if you can dry your hair in a fraction of the time, you are not only protecting your hair, but you’re saving yourself time every day. And who couldn’t use some extra time every day?
You will also want to invest in a quality thermal protectant for styling. These sprays allow you to apply a gentle mist on your hair that gives it extra protection from the heat of the styling tools. It also gives your hair a shiny finish as well. After straightening your hair, apply a smoothing balm that will smooth out any frizzes or dry pieces that are sticking up.
You may find it hard to believe, but you can actually help your hair to look healthier and more beautiful than it ever has just by using the right tools for the job. Invest in some quality tools and your hair will be healthier and bouncer than ever before and you can say good bye to any more bad hair days.
Getting Swivel Cords On Hair Styling Tools
November 6, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
One feature that you need to look for in any hair styling tool if you want it to last for a significant amount of time is a swivel cord. Whether you are talking blow dryers or curling irons the way you handle and move the tool to style your hair will tangle the cord and twist it around. If the styling tool uses a swivel base where it enters the tool this twisting action will only spin around harmlessly. If there is no swivel base the cord will continue to tangle and bind which will put excess stress on the junction which will end up pulling the cord out of the hair styling tool.

Do you feel overwhelmed when it comes to choosing hair tools and accessories? Does the thought of going into a hair supply store to buy your hair straightener, curling iron or blow dryer fill you with dread because you don’t know what you’re looking for?
When it comes to buying new hair tools, it can be very confusing about where to go buy what you need especially if you live in a small town. What are your choices? You could go to your hair dresser and ask him or her about where they buy their tools? Maybe they could pick something up for you or order it from their supplier? But what’s the problem with that? Typically your hair dresser will have his or her favorite brand name or type of hair tool, which is likely a very good product, but it may not be the right one for you.
So what are your other options? Of course if you live in a major center you can visit the local hair supply store and see what they have to offer. The problem with this plan is that they likely won’t carry all of the brands and styles that you would like to choose from. And they may get certain kick backs or incentives to sell certain brands and not others which won’t make your shopping experience fair.
By far the best way to shop for your hair straighteners, curling irons or blow dryers is to shop online. Some people are nervous shopping online for the first time but there is nothing to be concerned about. Secured shopping sites are the norm now and should be expected making your online transactions safe and secure. The other great thing about shopping online is that you can research every hair tool before you buy. You can read reviews, and compare products until you find the perfect one for you.
Don’t worry about shipping prices either. Many times shipping is free or offered at a significantly low price. And the price of the hair tools online is often much cheaper because the seller doesn’t have the extra overhead of a physical store to deal with, so they can pass the savings directly on to you the buyer.
So don’t worry about shopping online, go ahead and check it out. You can always contact the selling website and ask them as many questions as you like before you make your purchase. Shopping online is safe and easy and you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home. Before you know it, your new hair straightener, curling iron and blow dryer will be delivered to your door step and you will be on your way to beautiful, well styled hair all without stepping out your door.

Clean it up!

It can be very frustrating to find that the hair styling tools you have carefully selected and chosen to create the perfect style aren’t working properly. But before you get too worked up, take a good look at the tools. Chances are good, if you’re experiencing a small problem with your styling tools after you’ve had them for awhile, they need to be cleaned.
Cleaning your hair styling tools, just like anything else, is a fact of life. Your curling iron, hair straightener and even your brushes and combs need regular maintenance if you want them to perform the best they can for a long time. And don’t worry, cleaning your styling tools doesn’t have to be a long, complicated process. In fact, it’s really quite simple and will only take a few minutes of your time.
Brushes and Combs- It’s essential to clean your brushes and combs on a regular basis, but unfortunately this is one area that often gets overlooked. It’s all too easy to put your brush back in the drawer when you’re done with it every morning. But take a good look at your brush. Is it jammed up with hair and debris? Look at the base of it. There’s a good chance that your brush is matted with hair, dirt and debris.
Broken hairs, dirt from the hair, build up of styling products, dead skin cells and dust are just some of the things that will accumulate in your brush. It’s easy enough to clean. Use a comb or pencil to loosen the built up hair from the brush and remove it. To finish up the cleaning, soak your brushes in a warm soapy solution. This will ensure that any bacteria growth is washed away. You should clean your brushes at least once every two weeks in order to extend the life of them. However you may need to wash them more frequently depending on how dirty they get.
Curling Irons and Hair Straighteners – Even curling irons and hair straighteners need to be cleaned regularly. You might notices that your smooth iron that usually glides over your hair is starting to snag your hair? If this is happening it’s almost always because there is a build up of product on your tool and you need to clean it.
Curling irons that get a build up of styling products caked on them can actually cause damage to the hinge, the barrel or the clip of the curling iron not to mention that your hair will snag and pull on this build up causing damage. It also may cause uneven heating on your tool which will result in burning of the hair.
There are two techniques for cleaning your tools depending on how bad the build up is. The easiest method, for light build up is to unplug the iron and use rubbing alcohol or a simple cleaner to wipe your cool iron clean. If there is a light build up around the edges, use your finger nail, or a q-tip to loosen the build up. Never use anything sharp on your iron! It will scratch and destroy the surface of the plates or the barrel.
If the build up is more severe you may want to try the heated method of cleaning. Plug your tool in for a few minutes to allow it to warm up slightly. Unplug the tool and carefully wipe a cloth that has been saturated in alcohol or cleaner over the surface of the tool. Be very careful not to burn yourself. Be sure to wipe any residual cleaner off before using.
Hair Dryers – Blow dryers
also need to be cleaned regularly, although they are much simpler to maintain. Simply remove the mesh filter from the back of the dryer and use a small brush such as a tooth brush to loosen the lint and dust that builds up there. If you don’t remove this lint, it can cause your dryer to overheat and potentially light on fire.
Your hair tools are an investment and they should be treated as such. Regular care and attention will keep your tools working their best all the time and for years to come. So before you style your hair next time, take a quick look at your tools and check if they need a clean up.
Ceramic The Best Material For Hair Tools
October 20, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
If you use hair tools such as curling irons and hair straighteners then you know it is the heat, which forms the hair, as we want it to look. For the best results ceramic hair flat irons and curling irons are the most effective on getting those hot styles while not causing excess damage to the hair. Ceramic is much better at getting hot and staying the temperature you set it to be. So these irons will heat up quicker and will not have hot spots making your hair styling experience go smoother and quicker than if you use a iron made with lesser materials that will not hold the heat as well as ceramic.
