Options for Straightening Hair

September 8, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

So many women want straight luxurious hair right now and the stars in Hollywood and models on the runway only encourage this by keeping the look in fashion as the in style to have. Of course if you are not born with naturally straight hair you can either get it chemically or by using hair straightening irons.

Of course the option to chemically straighten your hair will not be available if you use permanent coloring on your hair even if there is just a little at the ends left this must be gone before you can use chemical straighteners. Also those who swim in pools a lot cannot use these chemical straighteners as the chlorine in the water will have very negative effects on your hair.

If the above conditions apply to you or if you just do not want to subject your hair to those nasty chemicals then hair straightening irons are the more effective way to get that straight hair. The drawback to this method is it does not last long at all so the most cost effective way is to purchase quality salon hair straighteners and do the work yourself as opposed to going to the hair dresser every time you want your hair straightened.

Avoiding Summer Hair Damage

There are so many things that women expose their hair to some in the name of beauty and some just because we do not truly understand the damage which is occurring to our hair. To reduce the damage to your hair consider wearing a hat to reduce the amount of sun it is exposed to. Also consider adding a little baby oil to your hair before entering the pool to reduce the damage from chlorine. Make sure you are using the right temperature settings on your hair straightening irons and curing irons so that your hair is not exposed to any unnecessary temperatures.

Humidity and Straight Hair

Summer time can really be hard on your hair with all the sun, heat, and humidity added on top of the styling that someone does everyday. The heat and humidity can make your hair frizzy and unmanageable making even the straightest of hair untamed. A straightening iron can help you get your hair back into the sleek, straight appearance that you would like to have. Hair flat irons using tourmaline can not only remove that summer time humidity induced frizz, but also help you retain your hair’s own natural moisture that summer time styling and sun can take out of it quickly.

Of course it is also important to remember to use the lowest temperature possible when using a hair flat iron. Too high of a temperature can damage hair that is already coping with summer sun, chlorine, and other extremes that the season brings. It is always important to use only the temperature needed to get the job done, no matter what time of year to keep your hair healthy when using hair flat irons and other professional hair styling tools. There is nothing more like summer than beautiful straight hair and a great bikini.

Hair Build-Up – How to Remove Product Build Up From Hair

May 12, 2008 by · Leave a Comment

How do you really know if you are using the right styling product. I know sometimes it can be hard to look at your own hair but here is one note that should be taken seriously…When you see a ton of flakes, piling up in your hair, this is usually from bad hair products not getting washed out properly, too much hairspray or simply can be a case of bad dandruff.

Now I know this photo isn’t pretty but you need to see what other people see when you are standing or sitting below their eye level. Now, from my research these are some treatment shampoos that should help if indeed you have dandruff. First though, what I know about Head and Shoulders is this, it (don’t know if it still is) used to be so strong that if you put rollers in your hair then poured Head and Shoulders all over your head, rinsed the shampoo out, removed the rollers, your hair would keep the curl. If this product is strong enough to perm your hair, then yes, I guess it will get rid of dandruff, but in the process you would have BADLY damaged hair. So please try something else!

Here is an all natural treatment that you can do yourself.

This recipe is from “Dandruff Cure Recipes”

Boil some water and soak rosemary leaves in it. Let it stand for one night. Strain and add vinegar to it. After shampooing, wash your hair with this preparation. It treats the hair very fast. Make sure you eat lots of greens and take vitamin E and B complex supplements. Biotin in your diet is very important and is considered an important anti-dandruff compound. Eat foods rich in biotin: soybeans, oats, barley, corn, garlic, avocado, ginseng.

Now onto product residue. KMS Head Remedy, a purifying shampoo that gently removes oil, chlorine and product build up. Rosemary and fennel help soothe itching and provide anti-bacterial benefits to the scalp to leave your hair and scalp clean and healthy. KMS Head Remedy

Senscience Purifying Shampoo.

It cleanses away residue and styling build up without stripping hair. Novel chelating agents remove excess minerals such as chlorine, iron, magnesium and copper leaving hair thoroughly cleansed. Bamboo remineralizes, restructures and tones.

Something simple that probably every person has in their home is baking soda. Mix about a tablespoon in with your shampoo and this will also strip your hair of chemicals. These products must only be used periodically, the baking soda method should be used maybe 2 to 3 times in a row, every 2 to 3 months. Same goes with the shampoos, too much use and your hair will start to dry out. Till next time, Good Luck,
