Voluminous Vixens! Add volume to your everyday hairstyle.

September 21, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

A lot of 2010 hair style trends involve lots and lots of volume.  The runways are full of models who have abandoned their sleek and silky chignons in exchange for loose, voluminous and a more sultry look.  One of the most popular looks in the messy updo.  Rather than the hair being combed smooth against the head and perfectly in place, women are using the updo for a more casual look.  They pin it up or tie it back for an effortless look for any occasion.  Gone are the days when every hair was in position; now it’s in style to look a little ruffled.

To add volume to any other do, there are many techniques to help you out.  Try blow drying your hair upside down after towel drying and applying a thermal protection product.  When it’s dry, give it a quick shot of hair spray before you flip your head back over and DON’T comb it out right away.  After you flip your hair back, wait for it to fall naturally and then use a wide tooth comb or pick to help smooth out the top layer.

If the hair dryer trick isn’t working for you, try to use curlers to help you out.  Dry your hair and apply a thermal protection product.  Use 1 inch hot rollers around your head, especially at the crown and leave them in for the required time.  When you pull out the rollers, wait for the hair to cool completely before trying to comb or style your locks.  You could even consider giving it a gentle mist of flexible hold hair spray to provide a little extra oomph!  After your curls are cooled, comb through them with your fingers to turn up the volume.  You don’t have to leave the curls either!  You can pull your hair back into a messy updo or smooth out the curls for a wavy, tousled look.

There are so many options and varieties of voluminous hair this season.  No more dull, flat hair for you!  Try each of these techniques and play around a bit to get the hottest new hair trends for 2010.

Celebrities Going Red

April 15, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

I love red hair and it seems celebrities such as Kat Von D and Jessica Alba do too! Kat has chosen a bold, bright red hue where as Jessica Alba’s red hair is a little more natural looking shade of dark auburn. Red hair is a hot trend and a big part of 2010 Summer Hairstyles.

Shades of auburn and copper are popular shades of red and although you can get red hair from a bottle, for the most natural looking red hair I would suggest you see your stylist!

If you choose to go red keep in mind that red is the fastest hair color to fade so be sure to use hair care products for color treated hair to help keep your new hue looking fresh and vibrant!

March 22, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Side swept bangs are not only a hot trend but are also a very flirty and sexy bang. To get the perfect side swept bang you see on stars like Reese Witherspoon follow these simple steps.

  • Ask your stylist to cut your bangs so that they hit right between your eyelashes and eyebrows.
  • Remember, when styling your side swept bangs, you want them to lay flat, not flip under like they did in the 80′s.
  • Part your bangs at the side and using a medium sized flat brush, brush your bangs downwards as you blow dry.
  • As you blow dry your bangs be sure to point your hair dryer downwards at your bangs, holding the dryer directly about your fringe.
  • To help keep bangs in place spray an eyebrow brush with a light mist of hairspray and comb over bangs for a soft hold.

Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston turn up the heat for “W” Magazine’s April 2010 Issue. The two reportedly have a huge spread in this issue to help promote their newest movie The Bounty Hunter, which opens in theaters nationwide March 19th.

Jennifer Aniston always looks amazing and on this cover she once again looks stunning. One thing I like a lot about this photo is Jennifer Aniston’s Hairstyle. I usually only see Jen with the same straight hairstyle so when I saw her with the messy beach wave hairstyle I was very happy.
